ThermoAnalytics spun off from a research lab of Michigan Tech just over 10 years ago. The timing was right and the location was perfect to set up business in an empty building that resided in the newly formed Houghton County Airpark Renaissance Zone. Initially during the first couple startup years, the savings form Michigan Single business and Property taxes being waived was not significant but as we became more profitable and invested into additional facilities, the saving has become an economic development tool for us. These savings (over $40 K per year) allow us to grow our business at a rate of 20-25%, which mean more professional jobs and significant revenue to plowback into out our local Michigan community. The RenZone concept is a real catalyst for businesses to be forward thinking and use those tax savings in a way that both ensures sustainability as well as jumpstarts new opportunities resulting in rapid growth.
